Golden Jubilee Celebrations of SDNB Vaishnav College begin Honourable. Governor Banwarilal Purohit participates
Shrimathi Devkunvar Nanalal Bhatt Vaishnav College for Women, started in 1968, today kicked off the Golden Jubilee Celebrations by inviting the Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit to Inaugurate and launch a slew of activities for the year ahead.
The Governor unveiled the plaque at hi-tech auditorium which was rebuilt and is now among the best auditoriums in the city of Chennai.
In her welcome address Smt. Mamta D. Bhatt, Chairman said “the college has always strived for excellence and building the character and ability of students into highly motivated, responsible and qualified Citizens. We are proud to state that the college has performed exceedingly well, in all its courses whether UG or PG. The Golden Jubilee marks the genesis of “Vaish Golden News Letter”, a ready reckoner to know about the Kaleidoscopic events that will enrich the student community about all activities and achievements of the college, was released on this occasion.
Shri Chandrakanth M.Tolia, Secretary of the college spoke about the Futuristic Development Programs to elevate the standards of the college on a global level which includes signing of MOUs with leading industries to enhance Industry- Institute relationship, construction of a state of art modern library, a Controller of Examinations office with ultra modern infrastructure, seminar halls, skill based labs , specially equipped labs and research rooms for PhD Scholars, to be completed by September 2019.
Shri Nimish.C.Tolia , Joint Secretary of the college gave details about the Golden Jubilee plan of action. New courses like Part I-Foundation course French, B.Sc Psychology, B.Com ( Professional Accounting), M.Com ( Corporate Secretaryship) &M.Phil ( Computer Science) are to be introduced during the golden jubilee year. A New College anthem, new campus radio, new mobile app for staff , new wall news paper, new Vaish in house journal are planned to be released during the Golden Jubilee year. Many National/ International Conferences/Symposiums are planned to be organised by all the major departments like Commerce, Computer Science, Statistics, History, Plant Biology and Plant Bio Technology to name a few. A grand Inter Collegiate Film Festival has been planned.
Dr. R.Geetha , Principal in her multimedia presentation about Genesis and growth of the college added that “Faculty development programs will be held to train and upgrade teachers on the latest trends in the field of education. Workshops on Theatre, Magazine Designing, Television News making , Photo Journalism, Bio -technology, Web Designing, Flash Designing, Story Board making, TVP Seminar, I-cat advertising will be conducted by the respective departments. Kavithai Pasarai, Hindi Bazaar, Vaishnav Bazaar are some of the innovative events in the pipe line and the road map ahead is to be recognised as “ The Go- To-Institute” for the next generation .
The management, staff & students were overwhelmed on this memorable occasion which celebrated the committed accomplishments of the past while marching ahead with undying enthusiasm and high spirits to contribute to the cause of Womens’ Education in the suburbs.
