CITIZEN CONSUMER CLUB organised a webinar on Consumer Protection Act, 2019 & Consumer Complaints Handling and Standards.

Citizen Consumer Club of S.D. N. B. Vaishnav college for women conducted Awareness Programme on “Consumer Production Act 2019” and “Consumer Complaints, Handling, and Standards”, on 9/3/2021 for the college consumer members.  The Chief  Guest for the session was A. Asokan, M.A., B.L., Chairman, FEDCOT, Tamil Nadu, and Pondicherry.  He delivered a speech on the Consumer Production Act and explained the consumer’s fundamental rights and their uses in daily life.

Another Eminent Guest was A. Selvaraj, Chairman, FEDCOT, India who delivered a speech on “Consumer Complaints, Handling, and Standards” on how to complain against false advertisement, mixing products and for customer paid items, etc. It clearly explained how to solve these problems in day-to-day life.  Both sessions were lively online and informative.

2019-20 Activities

Citizen Consumer Club of SDNB  VAISHNAV COLLEGE  conducted “Awareness Program on AGMARK Quality Certification to Identify Common Adulterants in Food item” on 17/09/2019 for the college consumer members. The Chief Guest for the session was K.Harish, Senior Marketing Officer, Directorate of Marketing & Inspection, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. He delivered the speech on AGMARK products and adulterants in Food items and showed the audience the real time tests that can be performed at home to test the products. It was a lively session and informative.

2018-19 REPORT

SDNB VAISHNAV College held the inauguration of citizen consumer club on 10/01/2019. The chief guests were M. SELVARAJ Chairman Federation of Consumer Organization Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, P. Joseph Dominic Training Director FEDCOT. M. SELVARAJ addressed the gathering about Consumer Protection Acts and its usage in day-to-day life.

Activity

Federation of Consumer Organizations Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry conducted various competitions for students to commemorate National Consumer Day. Prizes were distributed to the winners and all the participants on 24/12/2018 on National Consumer Day celebration at YMCA ground Vepery.

Awareness Program

P. Joseph Dominic, Training Director, conducted awareness program about “plastic- free nation”.

ADV. X. Selvam Sounder created awareness among students about Consumer Protection Act, M. Selvaraj spoke about Consumer Complaint Handling and P. Joseph Dominic Lourdes conducted an interactive Model Consumer Redressal Forum and Training.
