ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Health education has a rich heritage, it is been taught in various reputed institutions over the globe. It has been touching and enriching the life of young women for over a century.With this in mind, the year 2016 had witnessed the commencement of the 3 year, Undergraduate programme in Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics. The Department ever since its inception has aimed at providing quality nutrition education to its pupil. The course has been able to produce committed, efficient Dieticians with social responsibility. Our students have been well placed in both the Hospitality and health care establishments. Internships, extension activities are also part of the curriculum for our students, which makes learning interesting and fun. Lifestyle related diseases are on the rise due to which people have become more health conscious, for which, a course like Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics would be of great help in creating awareness among the masses about the ways to tackle such issues. An important point to be noted is that, upon completion of the course, the students will be eligible to become Allied Health Care Professionals.

The Department of NFSMD aims to provide a holistic learning atmosphere to educate young women so that they gain self-reliance, social relevance, sound value system by which they can be inspired to inspire.

The food science lab, microbiology lab, the physiology lab and the research lab are highly equipped with supportive assistants.
