The Department of Tamil of Shrimathi Devkunvar Nanalal Bhatt Vaishnav College for Women, led by Dr. S. Lakshmi, Dean of Languages and Dr. K. Padma Vilasini, Head, Department Of Tamil. conducted a drama competition on the topic “IDHU NAMMA BOOMI” on 18th April 2022 for students of shift 1 and for shift 2 on 19th of April. In which teams from 12 departments participated out of which 6 teams were qualified for the next level. S. Jeevitha, Assistant Professor, Computer Applications and Dr. J. Kartika, Assistant Professor, MA English was invited judges for the day one and Ms. S. Sarah Priscilla, Head & Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics. Dr.N. Priya, Associate Professor, (M.Sc) Computer Science evaluated the students of shift two on the second day. The second level of the competition was held on 24th of May 2022 in the MINI Auditorium, having “Purana Ithihasangal” as the theme, troops performed 5 different plays. Dr. S. Lakshmi, Dean of Languages and Dr. K. Padma Vilasini, Head, Department Of Tamil delivered Keynote addresses and wished the students for success. Dr. Satheeswaran and Mr. Aanandha Kumar who has More than twelve years of experience in the field of acting and performed in more than Hundred Plays were invited as Chief Guest and adjudicator for the event. They delivered speeches on the importance of art and theater in shaping the souls of individuals. Reporters from Jaya Television covered the event on the day. Dr. Geetha, Principal of our college appreciated the students for the wonderful performance and encouraged the students to take part in the cultural activities. Winners of the competition were awarded with certificates and trophies. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.

EVENTS

The Department of Tamil (Self support stream)of Shrimathi Devkunvar Nanalal Bhat Vaishnav College For Women Chennai-44 conductedvarious Inter-departmental competitions on 12.8.2020, to celebrate the auspicious occassion of Krishna Janmashtami.Various competitions such as Oratory, Song Rendition and Dance were conducted virtually on Google meet platform . For oratory competition Mrs. Uma Maheshwari of CN&D department presided as the judge. Ms. G Shrimathi (2 nd BCA) won the I place , Ms. R Bhaviya (2 nd B.COM A&F) won the II and Ms. L Sumithradevi (3 rd viscom) and Ms. B Jothirlatha (FSND) won the III prize , A special prize was awarded to Ms. R Shree Sharanya .

The results of singing competition was declared by Dr. S Kamakshi of M.COM A&F Department. Ms. N.Kruthika (2nd B.Com A/F) was awarded the first prize , Ms. V.Vaijayanthi (II year Bio stas) was awarded the second prize and Ms. G.D.Darshini (2ndB.sc NFSMD) was awarded the third prize. Ms. G.Deepika (2nd B.com cs ) was awarded the special prize for her song rendition.

The dance competition was judged by Ms. Kiruthika. Ms. Amruthabala(B.I.M 2 year) was awarded the first prize , Ms. Abinaya Manivannan(Viscom 3 year) was awarded the second prize , Ms. V. Divya (B.com HON 2 year) was awarded the third prize and a special prize was awarded to Ms. V. Aishwarya(CND 2 year)
